Description
Discover Dublin, a city full of history and colorful characters, on a private walking tour. See the major sights including Trinity College, O’Connell Street, Christ Church, and St Patrick's Cathedral, or customize the tour to exactly where you want to go. Meet your guide and begin your walking tour on the famous O’Connell Street, home to the GPO which served as the headquarters of the leaders of the Easter Rising. Connecting north and south Dublin, walk across O’Connell Bridge and continue to Trinity College. Home of the legendary Book of Kells, Trinity College is the oldest and most highly regarded university in Ireland. Many famous Irish men and women have studied here, including Oscar Wilde. Nearby you can see the famous statue of Molly Malone, and your guide will share her tale. Continue to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, famous for its impressive facades, and Dublin Castle controlled by the British until the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in 1921. Along the way, walk through the famous Temple Bar, home to many pubs, bars, and live music venues. Head to the Liffey Bridge, more commonly known as the Ha’Penny Bridge, then continue to Christ Church Cathedral. First built in 1030 by a Viking king, Christ Church remains the heart of Dublin and an important place of worship in the city. Walking south along Nicholas Street you find St. Patrick’s Cathedral, built in the 13th century to honor the famous Irish saint. Shaped like a cross, this medieval church is said to stand in the place of the wells Saint Patrick himself used to baptize people. As this is a private tour you can amend the itinerary to suit your own interests. Your guide is happy to provide suggestions on other places to visit, as well as provide local tips for food, drinks, and shopping.Includes
