Description
Visitors can experience farm life and food production up close across Airfield's 38-acres without leaving the limits of Dublin City. Located less than a five minute walk from public transit and with free parking available, this unique space allows families to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of a true urban garden. The farm & gardens at Airfield Estate are a perfect working example of environmentally sustainable agriculture & horticulture in Ireland. Airfield is a working 38-acre farm with a milking Jersey herd, Jacob sheep, Oxford sandy and black pigs, Saneen goats, Rhode Island red hens and donkeys to name but a few. As a working farm, almost all produce & animals are for use in Overends Kitchen. Using the best of farming practices and grass management, the farm at Airfield produces the very best in Irish meat. Airfield Estate also has 8 different gardens for guests to enjoy and snap some stunning pictures. Original home to the Overend family, today Airfield House is an interactive tour and exhibition which brings visitors closer to this admired Dublin family. Here you’ll view family photographs, original clothing and display cases with information on their prize-winning Jersey herd, vintage cars and their much loved Victorian toys and books. Their cars are also still on site in their own special display garage, including the 1927 Rolls Royce. You can also experience the World of Soil, where you can learn about the importance of the soil health to food production. This also houses an exciting activity zone, where activities are held daily as an opportunity for children to get their hands dirty. Activities that are included in entry ticket price include: - Guided tours of Airfield House daily at 12 pm and 2 pm - Egg Collection daily at 10 am - Cow Milking daily at 10:30 am - Storytimes in the afternoons - Craft sessions on weekends - Access to the playground and Woodland WalkIncludes
